A vocalist experiences an intense vision of her manager’s death, a girl ascends a tower of debris that appears in her town overnight, a gambling addict finds an almost malignant peace in a job watching over an abandoned airport. From dead malls to empty stretches of road, backstreets to vast lonely landscapes, The Beautiful Empty is a short story collection exploring liminal spaces and the unsettling allure of solitude.
